 Support to human service agencies to address unanticipated expenses incurred in response to the COVID‐19 pandemic.

  • Eligible 501(c)(3) and 501(c)(19) human service agencies may receive up to $50,000 of one‐time grant assistance for expenses incurred in the agencies’ response to the COVID‐19 pandemic.

  • Eligible expenses may include program enhancements to address increased service needs from county residents due to COVID-19 including legal services, temporary shelter and computer and technology equipment. Eligible expenses may also include the purchase and/or reimbursement of personal protective equipment, personnel costs, facility retrofit expenditures and other unanticipated administrative expenses directly related to COVID-19.

  • Eligible agencies may also apply for grants for planned response actions.

  • Funding in this program includes $1.55 million to the Harry Chapin Food Bank of Southwest Florida, $425,000 to the Midwest Food Bank, $225,000 to Community Cooperative, $500,000 to Lee County food pantries through $5,000 individual grants, $300,000 to reserves

PPE for Businesses Program

 Business representatives will receive 200 facemasks and a case of hand sanitizer

 Limit one PPE-pick up per company

 Distribution Sites will operate from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. weather permitting, and while supplies last

  • Sept. 22 to 24 at North Fort Myers Recreation Center, 2000 North Recreation Park Way

  • Sept. 28 to Sept. 30 at Estero Recreation Center, 9200 Corkscrew Palms Blvd.

  • No advance registration is necessary. County staff will ask the person representing the business for the business name, address and EIN number (Employer Identification Number). Only businesses with Lee County addresses will be eligible to receive PPE.

  • Lee County will work with United Way and a network of Gold Seal providers who offer quality childcare programming. The Gold Seal Quality Care program designation is available to providers who gain accreditation for a higher level of care and supervision provided to children.

  • Families can apply directly through a participating childcare provider. United Way staff will review the additional CARES questionnaire and, if the family qualifies, award scholarship funding directly to the childcare facility.

  • The childcare assistance via CARES funding will be given for an appropriate timeframe while the family regains employment stability.

Individual Assistance Program: Round 2

 The LeeCARES Individual Assistance program and call center has closed. Complete and submitted applications are being processed as quickly as possible.   • Assistance is limited to only one-time per household and assistance cannot exceed $3,000.

  • Payments will be made directly to landlord, mortgage company and/or utility company.

  • Annual household income, at the time of application, must be below the income limit. Income limits vary by household size.

  • Applicant must have had a loss of employment or reduced work hours due to COVID-19.

  • Recipients of round 1 assistance are eligible to reapply for round 2.

Business Rehire Program

 The LeeCARES Rehire program and call center has closed. Complete and submitted applications are being processed as quickly as possible. If your we need additional documents information to complete process your application, someone will contact you. You can check the status of your application online by visiting the online application portal.
  • Intended to help businesses rehire employees who lost their job because of COVID-19

  • Funds can only be used for operating expenses not covered by other resources.

  • Employees must have been rehired on or after July 6, 2020 to be elligible.

  • Businesses currently receiving the federal Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) funding are not eligible. Those whose PPP covered loan period has expired are eligible.

  • Business must have 250 or fewer employees, and the business owner must be a Lee County resident. 501(c)3 or 501(c)19 are also eligible for this program.
